Effective 2026
In short
- ReadSooner keeps your Google name and email, and what you save.
- To summarize an article, ReadSooner sends its text, title and address to an AI service, with the names of up to 200 of your tags. Never your name or email.
- No ads, analytics or tracking. Nothing is sold, and what you save is never shown to anyone else.
- Export everything at any time, and ask for your account to be deleted from the About page.
What ReadSooner keeps
- Your Google account: your name, email, the address of your profile picture, and the sign-in tokens Google returns. Nothing else from Google.
- Sign-ins: the IP address and browser of each signed-in session.
- What you save: each page’s address, the page as it was saved, its clean copy, and its summaries and translations.
- Your library: settings, folders, tags, and which articles are read, favorites or archived.
- Access tokens: a name and a hash; the token itself is shown once and never stored.
- AI usage: the model, tokens, estimated cost and time of each AI answer.
- Messages you send from the About page.
The browser extension
- It reads a page only when you save it, with its toolbar button, keyboard shortcut or right-click menu. It has no access to any website otherwise, and keeps no record of the pages you visit.
- It sends the saved page’s address and title, and its content without scripts and styles, to ReadSooner with your access token. A link saved from the right-click menu sends only its address.
- It keeps its access token and settings in the browser’s extension storage, and nothing else, until you remove it.
- ReadSooner’s use of information received from the extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
In your browser
- Articles you keep offline: their clean copy and summary, with the email of the account that kept them, stay in the browser’s storage on that device until you remove them or sign out. They aren’t sent anywhere.
- The app itself: one page of ReadSooner, with its scripts, styles, logo and the fonts it uses, so it opens without a connection.
Cookies
Only the cookies the app needs, none for tracking:
better-auth.session_token | Keeps you signed in | 60 days |
better-auth.state | Google sign-in | A few minutes |
locale | Your language, if you choose one | 1 year |
theme | Your theme, if you choose one while signed out | 1 year |
How long it is kept
- Your library stays until you delete it, or your account.
- AI usage records stay after an article is deleted, until your account is.
- A page sent by the extension or Shortcut is deleted once its clean copy is made; if that fails, it stays with the article.
- Finished background work: 7 days. Nightly backups: 30 days.
Your choices
- Export everything as JSON or Markdown in Settings.
- Delete any article or access token yourself. To delete your account, send a request from the About page; your data then leaves the backups within 30 days.
