Reading and organizing

What you can do with an article once it is saved.

Summaries and translations

Every article opens with a one-sentence TL;DR and its key points, in the article’s own language. Under the summary, Translate into shows it in another language, and suggested tags are one tap away. The Aa button sets the theme, colors and font.

“Preview only”

Some sites show an article only to readers who are signed in or subscribe. Saved from a link alone, ReadSooner gets just the beginning and marks it “Preview only”; it never gets around a paywall. Open the article signed in to the site and save it again with the extension or the Safari Shortcut, and the full copy replaces the preview.

Keeping things in order

Triage shows unread articles one at a time: read now, later, or archive. Favorites and the Archive keep what you mark, folders and tags group articles, and search looks through titles, summaries and text.

Reading offline

In an article, Keep offline stores its clean copy and summary on this device. Without a connection, ReadSooner still opens, installed or in the browser, and lists the articles kept here to read; Archive, Favorite and Delete wait until you’re online. Pictures aren’t kept, and signing out removes the articles. On iPhone and iPad, Safari deletes what a website keeps after 7 days without a visit, so add ReadSooner to the Home Screen (Share → Add to Home Screen) and open it from there.
